Check-in #2
Dec. 10th, 2011 09:42 amWelcome to Checkpoint Number Two!
How's it going? Is it coming right along? Are you energized? Losing focus already and disheartened? This is the place to talk about it! Check in, let us know how you're doing, if you haven't even started yet, if you have the whole thing plotted out or if you're still trying to find the meat behind the inspiration.
This is also a place to post a snippet of your work, if you have one so far. Only a snippet, please: a few paragraphs, 100-200 words, nothing big. Something you feel is representative of what your work will end up being, at least from this point in time.
Good luck, writers!

Date: 2011-12-10 07:23 pm (UTC)I've decided on my fandom & pairing -- Wicked's Elphaba/Glinda -- and the basic thread of the plot. Haven't started writing quite yet, but that's coming soon. I am in love with the idea I came up with and REALLY hope that I can pull it off, as it's something I'm not sure I've seen in this particular fandom before.

Date: 2011-12-10 11:28 pm (UTC)Snippet:
That was the question which burnt within me for close to a day. All about me was a kingdom of ash. Nor was there even the solace of burning embers to enliven the grey plains for coke rules the fires and furnaces in this city of soot. I felt a stab of pity for the White Dragon, so reduced to a wyrm-like state as it slumbered under this capital city. Covered in ash and soot, he'd been bled to somnolence. I needed to feel the hot pulse of life from the Red Dragon; to sit before a hearth watching the flames dancing with pops and cracks along a length of oak wood.
Looking into D~'s eyes, I saw a reflection of that spark and knew that he would understand. "Nothing that you have not done already, my dearest friend. The need to be out of the city and back in the more natural world burns within me. I need to go back home, to Wales, to fully heal my spirit."
